Stay one step ahead of scams with practical advice and real-world strategies from the experts
About the workshops
Scams and cybercrime are increasingly affecting individuals, families and communities across Australia. Our Scam & Cyber Safety Workshops, delivered in partnership with IDCARE, help community members better understand the evolving tactics used by scammers and provide practical strategies to stay safe online.
These sessions are engaging, informative and grounded in real-world experiences. Participants learn how scams work, why people become targets and the simple steps that can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim. The workshops also create space for open discussion, where participants can share experiences, ask questions and build confidence in recognising suspicious behaviour.
The workshops are delivered using IDCARE’s highly regarded Cyber Resilience Outreach Clinics (CROCs) model, which is used across Australia to support communities in strengthening their cyber awareness. Through this approach, participants gain practical tools they can incorporate into everyday routines to create stronger layers of protection against scams and online threats.
Importantly, the sessions also highlight what to do if something does go wrong. Participants are introduced to the specialised support services available through IDCARE, ensuring they know where to seek help if they experience identity theft, cybercrime or a scam.
